Hi, my name is Christin Roman.

I’m a user experience design consultant who lives and works in NYC. I help startups design and launch great products by focusing on their users first. I have taught at SVA, NYU, and General Assembly.

The name of this blog comes from a quote from Red Burns, the founder of the Interactive Telecommunications Program, where I got my graduate degree at NYU. One day she said to our class, “I hate robots…” After a confused and uncomfortable silence, she continued “I don’t believe in artificial intelligence, I believe in artificial augmentation.” She founded ITP, an innovative technology program, on the simple idea that the technology shouldn’t be used for technology’s sake, but to help people. It’s an idea that got me interested in technology in the first place and that still informs my work today.
